Quincy
Serving the Children of the World

What is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

When does Kiwanis meet?

The Quincy Noon Kiwanis Club meets every Monday at noon for lunch at Tony’s Too in the new Holiday Inn (near 48th and Broadway).

What do you do at meetings?

Meetings open with the Kiwanis pledge, singing “God Bless America”, and a prayer.  Then there’s an open meeting with announcements about upcoming events and projects followed by a speaker.  The meeting concludes by 1 p.m.

How much does membership cost?

The Kiwanis fiscal year is from October 1 through September 30.  Annual dues are $500 and billed quarterly.  This includes International, District and local Kiwanis fees as well as lunch.

How do you join Kiwanis?

You’re invited to attend a meeting as a guest of a member.  If you join, that member will be your sponsor.  Or you may attend a meeting and meet the fine men and women who make up our Club and learn more about Kiwanis.  You will receive a membership brochure and application.

How do you join?

Upon completion of the application form, approval of the Board of Directors and payment of fees, a fellow Kiwanian will schedule your induction ceremony.  It’s  a simple, dignified ceremony where you are welcomed to the

Kiwanis Club and receive a Kiwanis lapel pin to wear to meetings.  There are no rituals.

What do you expect of new members?

We expect you to attend club meetings as

regularly as possible and participate in Kiwanis service projects and fund-raisers.  You are also expected to serve as an active member of a committee. We do not require perfect attendance.

Our promise to you.

  • You will have an opportunity to share your   experience, knowledge and time with the    community – “serving one child and one community at a time.”
  • An interesting opportunity to relax, converse with friends, and listen to interesting speakers.
  • Fellowship with other Kiwanians in Quincy’s  premier service club.

How does the club raise funds?

The amount of money we grant to area organizations each year is directly related to the success of our fundraising efforts. Whatever we raise is

distributed that same year. Fundraising events include:

    • Kiwanis Charity Auction
    • Carson and Barnes Circus (every other year)
    • Smaller fundraising activities include Peanut Day, Bowling for Spastic Paralysis and various others

How do you get to know other Kiwanis Club members?

      We have fun together!

      • Every Monday, we learn about the personal lives of our members during “Good News.” We learn about family  members and weekend travels, new babies and grandbabies, weddings and graduations, funny stories and personal and professional accomplishments.
      • Experienced and inexperienced golfers play in the annual Golf Scramble at Westview Golf Course. Prizes and bragging rights are awarded.
      • Social outings provide fun and fellowship for Kiwanis members and our families.  We have enjoyed trips to Spirit Knob Winery, Gems games, and a special road trip in our own tour bus to a Cardinals/Cubs game in St. Louis.
      • We also enjoy visiting other Kiwanis clubs in our area, a practice encouraged throughout the Kiwanis world.  “Interclubs” give us the opportunity to meet Kiwanis members in  Jacksonville, Beardstown, Winchester, Canton, Palmyra and Hannibal, and of course, the other two Kiwanis Clubs right here in Quincy.
